Dundee Elementary School is a local school that held a Pajama Drive at the end of 2018 with hopes that they could help vulnerable children in our community. The Pajama Program is a nationally-recognized non-profit group that provides new pajamas and new books to children in need. These children are often in foster care, homeless shelters, or group homes.
Dundee Elementary suggested that 58:12 Rescue join the Pajama Program in order to receive the donation. Because of Dundee Elementary staff and students, we received 230 pairs of pajamas ranging from size newborn to adult large. Their hard work meant that each of our residents, both adult and children, were gifted a new set of pajamas for Christmas.
As mentioned previously, The Pajama Program also provides books for children, and this spring, we will be receiving Scholastic Books that were donated from Dundee Elementary as well. We are so excited to be receiving these books for our child residents as a way to support them and their education.
We are so thankful for the people in our community that take the time to organize these fundraisers and donate items, time, and funds to local organizations. Our goal at 58:12 Rescue is to provide shelter and support for vulnerable women and children, and with the support and efforts of our community, we are doing just that.
